Part 1. My Application. To join the National Honor Society you have
to have a 3.6 GPA and the recommendation of a faculty member. Then,
after filling out the application---where you include things like
extracurricular activities in which you have participated and
leadership roles you have assumed---the committee decides whether or
not you qualify. Although I had maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my
high school career, I had participated in no real extracurricular
activities and had assumed no leadership roles. Thus, the NHS saw
fit to reject me for three straight years. Needless to say, two
months from graduation and ready to head to college, I wasn't so
impressed when asked to join the NHS for a fourth time...
P.S. The part about the fire alarm is technically true, although I
swear I just wanted to see how it worked.
On to "Letter of Recommendation #1"...
